About Jouault family
My research of Jouault's starts from Mesnil le Thebault which is just inland from Avranches, Pierre Philippe Jouault 1766-1841 moved from there to the port of Granville where with his wife Rose Sibron he settled and eventually died, some or all of his surviving children moved to the island of Jersey, with my line Julien Andre Jouault 1805-1879 settling in 9 Broad Street, St Helier, Julien married Jeanne Wimbee the daughter of a refugee from eastern France who lived at Library Place as an Umbrella maker. Julien appeared to be a reasonably successful partnership with E.J. Gallichan as a ship owner involving small coastal traders plying between the island and England and Granville. Julien took up British citizenship, but circa 1854 he returned to live and die in Granville, this may have been for a number of reasons, one being the loss off Flamborough Head of his vessel and eldest son Andre on the maiden voayage of the "President" a 60 ton vessel built in Granville and fitted out in Jersey. The family continued to have links between Jersey and Granville with Julien's son Louis 1841-1889 being an agent for the London&South Western Railway vessel "Victoria" which ran from Jersey to Granville and St Malo. Louis had a daughter Madelaine 1880-1938 and son Jean Louis 1883-1956 he married Marie Le Dain and settled in Jersey, This tree includes a large majority of the Le Dain's from Jersey as there are two family connections to the family from the Jouault's all be a rather distant one to the the St Helier branch.
